Our Sponsors

We are grateful to the following sponsors for their generous donations to Friends of Ian Mikardo High School. These funds are passed to the school to support students' progress.

Morrison & Foerster  (UK) LLP

We are grateful to the staff of Morrison & Foerster (UK) LLP for their interest in the school and for their fundraising which enables us to involve students in offsite activities to build their confidence and social skills. .

Barclays provided funding for some of our core needs over seven years. Barclays funding for 2015 supported:

  • A Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist
  • A Parent Engagement Officer
  • A Parent Support Worker
  • A Fundraiser

In the past Barclays has supported:

  • Psychotherapy rooms
  • Drama rooms
  • Four places on the 2012 Kilimanjaro expedition

We have also benefited immensely from the regular and enthusiastic voluntary involvement of Barclays' staff. Special thanks to Tom Haley and his Tax team who helped to prepare our students for the working world by mentoring them, and to Stephen Hender and his team who built our website.

We are also grateful for the support of SFM Corporate Services Limited which, in co-operation with Barclays, named Friends of Ian Mikardo High School as a recipient of proceeds of The Gracechurch Card Holdings Charitable Trust.

Old Possum's Practical Trust

Our Speech and Language therapist is making a big difference to students at Ian Mikardo and we are grateful to the Old Possum's Practical Trust for its support for her invaluable role.

A donation from A2Dominion helped students n design and create a bespoke bookcase for each curriculum area, and choosing books and other resources to go in them.

London Soup

It's heartening when an organisation goes out of its way to support us, and we're grateful to the London Soup staff who have provided a smoothie maker to enable the boys to expand their cafe enterprise activities.

The Mercers' Company

The Mercers’ Company has a 700 year history of welfare work in the City of London. They supported the school over five years and supported the following programmes:

  • Hair salon sessions
  • Beauty therapy sessions
  • DJ courses
  • Parenting courses
  • After school clubs

The Mayors' Community Chest, Tower Hamlets

The Mayor's Community Chest supported a former student to reach the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in July 2013.

We were recently delighted to be chosen as the recipient for the proceeds of an auction evening held by the fantastic women who make up WGIRLS London.  The enthusiasm and generosity of the bidders had to be seen to be believed and the funds raised will unquestionably make a difference to the boys in the school.

Boots Opticians

Many of our students need glasses, and thanks to Boots Opticians students on roll in 2013-14 received a spare pair to help them get on with their work in school.

BackYard Comedy Club

By teaming up with the Backyard Comedy Club in Bethnal Green, the charity trustees and their friends had a great night out - and the club made it even better by donating half their ticket sales to the charity. Thanks, guys.
