Ian Mikardo forges ahead

The Head Teacher, Claire Lillis, has informed parents and carers that from January 23, 2017, Kevin Wildrianne will become Acting Head of School, and that Aaron Mulhern will become Acting Deputy Head of School. Jeanine Heismann will lead on Welfare.

This new management structure will allow Claire and Julie Pierzchniak, the Deputy Head Teacher, to work with the Department for Education, the Ministry for Justice and other organisations to explore how they can open more schools like Ian Mikardo.

"Our school is a learning community and we believe that we never stop learning," says Claire, adding that her aim is "to ensure that many more children benefit from our approach to education."

Since 2008, 95% of Year 11, 12 and 13 leavers have progressed to further education, training and employment. The school's nurturing ethos and effective practice has been consistently praised by Ofsted, whose inspector commented in November 2016 that, "The school is a happy and well ordered place to learn."
